Working principle of butterfly check valve
When fluid flows into the valve, the pressure from the flow pushes two semi-circular plates that are hinged at the center of the valve. These plates open, allowing fluid to pass through. In its closed position, the two plates return to their original position, sealing the valve to prevent backflow. This mechanism operates automatically, driven by the dynamics of fluid flow
In some designs, a spring-loaded mechanism assists in closure the of the valve, reducing water hammer risks.
Butterfly check valve price in Kenya
Hortitechno offers butterfly check valves at affordable prices, ranging from KES 7,600 to KES 75,500
Applications
They are versatile devices used in various industries for their ability to prevent backflow. Here are some common applications where they are used;
- HVAC systems
- Chemical industry
- Water supply systems
- Oil and gas industry
Advantages
- Due to their simple design, butterfly check valves requires less space
- Have lower pressure drop
- Prevents backflow in irrigation systems( pop up sprinkler, rain hose pipe ), protecting pumps and ensuring consistent water flow.
- They are made from durable materials that can withstand high temperatures and pressures without cracking
- They are cost effective
- Can be installed between flanges or with threaded/lug connections, requiring minimal effort.
- Can be used with HDPE fittings including adaptors, reducing socket, elbow coupling, tee coupling.
